Powerful Visualization CapabilitiesVisualization is not only about having the most scalable and interactive solution. We believe there are better and smarter ways to look at, and interpret on prestack and multi-dimensional data.
New Thinking NeededBecause 3D visualization software in the Oil and Gas Industry has traditionally been designed only for poststack volumes, those who have experimented with prestack interpretation have found difficulties translating the results back into a usable format. From the ground up, the Headwave solution is designed to enhance multi-dimensional, and specifically 3D prestack workflows - a sea change in visualization capabilities.
3D Prestack CapabilitiesPrestack data is large, multiple terabytes being the norm. Rather than to require you to work on small subsets or subsections, Headwave lets you work on the entire survey the whole time. As the Headwave data format is multi-dimensional, users can effortlessly bring up data in almost any way they want.
To give an idea of the versatility, you can look at single traces, shot or CMP gathers and CMP volumes in 2D, 3D or 4D - the visualization solution even lets you freely use probes or planes to bring in other dimensional data or attributes. It is also possible to animate (e.g. by click-and-drag or mouse wheel) changes in values in any dimension in real time.
Real time is also the cue word for the entire prestack visualization solution in Headwave. You should be able to test and verify your settings in real time. The visualization system of Headwave lets you do just that.
Computed AttributesThe Headwave visualization component also allows you to compute and visualize on attributes along with your prestack and poststack data. The attributes can be displayed as surfaces such as planes or probes, or be volume rendered or even a combination of such. The attributes can be visualized used different transfer functions per volume, per attribute or per surface. Headwave has support for single (1D) and multi-dimensional (2D or 3D) transfer functions.
How about Poststack? The Headwave visualization component does an equally good job at visualization and interacting with poststack data. You can simultaneously visualize prestack and poststack data, or compare multiple poststack sets. Sub-voxel precision ensures that when you investigate anomalies, surfaces and volumes are perfectly aligned visually even if they are of different physical dimensions.
ScalabilityAn important component of prestack visualization is the scalability. Datasets can be enormous, and there can be many successive iterations of the data over the data processing lifecycle.
Headwave is based on a massively parallel architecture that provides almost linear scalability from a single workstation, or a few server nodes to literally thousands of potentially GPU-enabled server nodes - providing the required multi-user, high performance visualization capabilities. With potentially hundreds or thousands of CPUs and GPUs working in parallel, using efficient load-balancing tools and the leading edge of algorithms for data transfer and 3D 'video' streaming, you can rely on Headwave to keep you working without interruptions.
