This workshop will focus on the advances being made in the computing industry, how they are being implemented in oil and gas, and the operational issues that must be addressed in managing increasingly complex and rapidly growing HPC environments. Specifically the Friday SEG workshop will focus on:
Emerging technology directions and computing paradigms. This will include presentations from the technology leaders in the high performance computing industry.
Challenges in building and maintaining data centers. Facility managers will present case studies and discuss challenges associated with meeting rapidly growing power and cooling requirements.
Operations issues and system administration best practices. HPC managers will discuss challenges, best practices and cluster management requirements associated with deployment and day-to-day operation of evolving and increasingly complex HPC systems
We look forward to seeing you at the HPC Workshop on Friday morning,
November 14th.
Please also make sure you plan to attend the Thursday (November 13th) morning SEG special session: SS 7 High Performance Computing. The special session compliments the workshop with technical papers on the application of high-performance computing to geoscience problems. We are coordinating topics to minimize overlap and present a more complete view of our industry. |
